ABOUT BECKY HSU
Becky Hsu has educated and inspired numerous students to write for over 20 years. She encourages creativity and collaboration through active learning methods that ask her students to move, talk, and - most importantly - laugh. She believes that innovation develops best, not in isolation, but in warm, supportive communities that allow for deep discovery.
Becky received both her B.A. and Ph.D. in English, with a specialization in Asian American literature, at UC Berkeley. Her career has spanned all educational levels, including 6 years teaching academic writing in Shanghai, China, at University of Michigan-Shanghai Jiatong University Joint Institute. She currently teaches academic writing in the College Writing Programs department at her alma mater, UC Berkeley. Her research interests include North American ethnic literatures and films, especially how these stories intersect with narratives of environmental precarity in the 21st century.

Becky continually finds inspiration through writing poetry and fiction. In addition, she has been dancing for 20+ years, with specialization in modern and contemporary styles.
